About Math for America

Math for America Los Angeles (MfA LA) is working towards the goal of ensuring that every student in the greater Los Angeles area should have a first-rate math or computer science teacher. We find effective and dedicated mathematics and computer science teachers, provide them opportunities for their professional and intellectual growth, knit them together in a caring community, and enable them to be leaders within their schools and districts. Our model of change involves working with groups of teachers at different schools, changing departments one by one to become more collaborative, equitable, and responsive to students’ needs.
